When the Fire Intensifies, So Does Jesus’s Presence

There’s something I’ve come to realize on this walk with Christ: the moment you begin to surrender to God fully, the enemy doesn’t just sit back; he launches attacks. And not small ones either, real personal, targeted warfare designed to shake your faith, rattle your confidence, and make you question if pressing forward was even worth it.

Just a few Sundays ago, I found myself soul-searching. I asked myself, “Am I truly living for Christ? Am I fully surrendered?” That honest moment with God stirred something in me. Since then, I’ve made it a priority to stay in the Word, to pray in the Spirit, to fast regularly, and to wait on God’s guidance before making decisions. And as I’ve drawn closer to Him, I’ve noticed something!

The spiritual warfare around me has intensified, especially at my job. In an unexpected and deeply troubling turn, my boss (who also happens to be a reverend) tried to place me in the middle of a false allegation involving child abuse. Something I had no part in. The situation was an attempt to protect herself and someone else at the expense of my integrity. And when I refused to go along with the cover-up, she sent me home “until further notice.”

In the natural, this situation could easily cause fear, frustration, and anxiety. But let me tell you what I felt instead: peace. God’s undeniable peace. I thank and praise HIM right in the middle of the trial because I know HE is doing something powerful in me. This isn’t punishment! This is positioning. This is refining.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice  as you share Christ’s sufferings…” — 1 Peter 4:12-13

I’ve learned that when the fire intensifies, it’s not a sign that you’re doing something wrong; it's often confirmation that you’re on the right path. The enemy attacks what he fears. He tries to distract and discourage, but I refuse to give him that power. My foundation is not in the approval of people, but in the promises of God.

To anyone reading this who might be going through a season of unfair attacks, misunderstandings, or spiritual warfare, you are not alone. And more importantly, you are not without a Defender.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.” — Isaiah 54:17

Be encouraged, my brothers and sisters in Christ. The same God who shut the mouths of lions for Daniel, walked in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and split the sea for Moses, that same God is standing with you in your situation. Don’t back down. Don’t compromise. Don’t lose faith!

This season may be uncomfortable, but it’s also sacred. God is growing something in you that can only be forged in the fire. Stand firm in your faith. Trust in His timing. Rest in His peace.

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace… will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” — 1 Peter 5:10

I believe with all my heart that what the enemy meant for evil, God is turning for good. Keep pressing. Keep praying. Keep believing. Your breakthrough is on the other side of this battle.

With love and faith,
